Growth
If our site keeps growing, I intend to make it rewarding for our top contributors. The preferred method is Royalties, see below. First off – I want to mention our Top of the Poets lists.
Here is our currently most read poems:
Apairist - Rebecca Isgrove
Weather Forecast – Jan Oskar Hansen
Here at the Ruinscape – Nicholas Alexander
New Zealand – Bernie Kyle
Machine Music – Richard Taylor
Ocean Blue – Jan Oskar Hansen
Editor’s choice
intercity – Vanessa Rare
Economize! – Alexander Mikhaylov
Releasing A Bottle of Whau River Blues – Deana Platt
Charges
There should not be charges for contributors for just sharing their work. If the social nature of the site works for you and then it works for us – so I plan to start providing sell-able forms of content for more popular poets by adding value as a publisher to your selection of work (in collaboration with an editor).
Any such venture would be negotiated on the basis of a 25% profit share with the poet as royalty, with 50% being reinvested in growing the website. That way we may be able to make someone rich – but I guess people will need to be motivated to buy your work and more site growth is required.
If you sell such digital assets on your site AucklandPoetry will securely handle the sale and account for it accurately. Royalties accounts will be available online to the individual members who they affect. Costs will be covered by the 50% being reinvested, and you can run the same ads on your own site to sell the same digital products. In these instances we will just charge 25% of the total cost as a total fee to AucklandPoetry, and we return the rest to you in the form of an account. Actual payment to New Zealand / Aotearoa Resident Poets by cheque payment – which may be invoiced as GST inclusive by GST registered individuals or organisations that own copyright.
That is what is possible – and if we get the audience and momentum by the quality of poems, then I can provide the digital media website. International poets who publish on this site may be paid if they have a paypal account.
Please leave your comments below if interested in my ideas for being rewarded for our work as poets.
I see this as a community publication supported by common promotion. I will post some adverts for AucklandPoetry.com that you may copy and paste into your local community magazine, emails, myspace, poetry networking sites. Let’s keep the growth momentum up – it’s really up to you.
Last off, I did not expect such rapid growth. If this continues – watch for more announcements. And keep linking your poems to your myspace page – it’s good for everyone.
I have been asked if its non-profit. It is not intended to be, but so far it has been. Lots of fun.
