She sees the candle’s flame
Dreams re-remembered.

Amongst lit candles
She waits for her lover
Dinner has gone cold.

He reads by candlelight
Didn’t pay the electric bill
No TV tonight.

Snowy winter night
Warms her hands over candlelight
Hardship lacks romance.
