an obsolete emotion
An Obsolete Emotion?
What happened to laughter, last time I looked
it walked along a lake and giggled at the antic
of ducks; the birds have gone and the lake is
polluted so what’s so funny about that.
Serious venture in a grim factory by the lake’s
shore, ducks can’t compete with that, somber
house prices, grave problem with the sewer and
you have the making of gloominess.
The factory is closed and a house is no longer
an asset but a cold shelter where people waits
for the bailiff, as some people, chuckling and
giggling grimly, buy up defeated domesticity.
Yet laughter hasn’t been fully eradicated it
lurks in a child’s face ready to come and play
